Chloe May Come to the Comics

Fans of Smallville rejoice. Chloe Sullivan may come to the comic books. I read about it at Comic World News.com. Not much more news then that but go to the site and look as it is an interesting place.

A Slaute to Wonder Woman

I was just watching the Wonder Woman DVD animated movie today. I was a fan of the TV show but haven't been a fan of the character in the comic books. However, I loved the movie. It's strange how some characters you don't like in one format but do like in others. Anyway I liked the movie so much that I was inspired to create this video for the character.

Ditko's Homage to Spider-man

Take a look at this scene from the Hawk and the Dove that was drawn by Steve Ditko.
Look at how the Hawk is holding his hand in the second panel. He is holding it the same way that Spider-man does when he shoots his webs. At that time Mr. Ditko had just quit Marvel so he wasn't doing Spider-man anymore. Is this perhaps his way of paying homage to Spidey? Only he may know for sure.

Essential Team-Ups: The Brave and the Bold #59

This is the team-up that I wish I had included in the post that I did last week. However, I didn't think of it till the setup for the blog crossover was well underway. We have discussed it on this site before. I thought you all might have fun actually reading it.
I recently found this at a local comic book shop for $5. I wondered why it was so cheap. When I opened up the book I saw halfway through that there was a coupon cut out. There was an ad on both sides of the page so it didn't ruin the story. However, with a page cut up the dealer usually puts it the dollar bin. I know him pretty well and I know he would have given me money back if I took it back and showed it to him. He's a good man and tries to do right by his customers. Still I don't plan on asking him for any money back. Anyway enjoy reading the story.

Yes this was the very first Batman team-up in the Brave and the Bold. It was published in early 1965 and Batmania was a year away. A few other team-ups without Batman came in the following months. But just as Batmania was getting started Batman took over as the host of Brave and the Bold. Did this issue sell so well that they gave him the job and it just happened to be at the time of Batmania? Did they just do it in hopes that Batmania woule hit with the TV series and sales would encrease? I don't know for certain but Batmania did help and Batman and this book ran for a very long time.
