Goodbye Comic Coverage

One of the great comic blogs of the last 3 years has been Comic Coverage by Mark Engblom. I just found out that Mark is stopping any new post to his site. He had a fun and entertaining site and I will miss it. Still he is keeping he post of the past up for future generations to enjoy. Heres to you Mark and thanks for all the fun. Mark is also an artist and the above parody of Darkseid is from his site when he posted it on June of 2007 for his Profiles in Villainy section. I believe this is how the people at DC and Warner Brothers now feel about Marvel and Disney.
One day I too may have to stop all of my blogs and I hope others feel as entertained with mine as I did with yours Mark.

Here is a video where the gentleman tried out for the part of Superman. He came close but based on this video he should have won.

Super Powers Burger King Commercial
A few weeks ago a group of blogs celebrated the anniversary of the Super Powers mini-series. I was asked to participate via my site Plastic Man Platitudes. Due to certain circumstances and that Plas had little do to with the series I had to decline. Today, for the first time, I saw this commercial. Wish I had seen it a few weeks ago and I would have told one of those blog owners about it.

Yet another new background
I found another picture that gives both Marvel and DC characters that we usually talk about on this site. So I used it for the background. Hope you like it.

The Hulk Vs. The Thing
I have not seen every show that featured the Fantastic Four or the Hulk. I wish I had. I came across this video that features one of the many fights between the Thing and the Hulk. Finally an animated version of them fighting. In case there are others out there who haven't seen it I decided to post it here.

Mego Superheroes
Here is a mid 70's commercial for the Mego line of superhero action figures. You can tell the writer of the commercial didn't keep up with comic books. Green Arrow is from the forest? Mr. Fantastic can turn invisible like the Invisible Girl? And showing it's age the commercial calls the Falcon the great Black superhero. Wouldn't be called that today.

Goodbye Mr. Levitz

Can the comic book world take much more? First we hear that Disney wants to buy Marvel. Now it is rumored (more likely true since I saw it on POV by Mark Evanier) that Paul Levitz is leaving DC as President and Publisher. What is going to happen next? Stan Lee's company is bought out by Archie Comics. I think the Disney buy out may be a good thing but I am concerned. Mr. Levitz was always a good writer and I am sure he will find work in that respect if he wishes. I am afraid of what will happen to DC in his absence. Thanks to him creaors were given royalities and better insurance. Many lives were touched by this man just for being in his position and doing the right thing. I hope his successor will do the same thing.
The above photo I saw on flickr.com.

Marvel Disney Petition

Marvel is in the process of being bought by Disney. While I think this is a good idea others don't. One of them has a petition on line to sign. If you don't like this idea then you can click here to go to their site.
