Recently I have been catching up on the second Booster Gold series. The lynch pin of the series for me was Booster trying to get Ted Kord to come back to life. Ted as we all know is dead. But thanks to Rip Hunter Booster has become a Time Cop. But one time he breaks the time law when Blue Beetles from the past, present and future show up to tell Booster that he needs to help bring Ted Kord back or there will be porblems in the 27th century. Since he has just told Rip that he wants to bring Ted back he joins them. But in the end it is all a ruse. One of the Blue Beetles was a future enemy of the present Blue Beetle and Ted was willing goes back to be killed by Maxwell Lord to save the world. The other Blue Beetles have the incident wiped from their minds. So the team-up never happened. An entertaining story but it left the reader shaking his head. This got me wondering of other team-ups that messed with the readers minds.

In this issue of the Brave and the Bold Batman is asked by the rich woman Ruby Ryder to find her missing boyfriend. He finds him and brings him back. Instead of a happy reunion she shoots him for running out on her and she frames Batman for his murder. Batman proves his innocence with the help of a mysterious person who keeps stopping people who are trying to kill him since he was getting close to the truth. Soon Ruby is sent to the chair. Batman stops her execution as he says the victim is still alive and in that room. Suddenly one of the prison guards streatches out of his uniform to show that he is really Plastic Man. It seems that he got tired of being the clown of the superhero set and decided to become a different person. He changed his name and used his powers change his face. He dated Ruby and fell in love with her till he found out how cruel and selfish she was. So he left. Ruby was not guilty of murder and set free but she could be facing charges of attempted murder.
This messed with my mind because while he looked like the son of the original Plastic Man from 1966, he told that his origin was that of his father. So was he the father or the son? Look at the page below to see what I mean.

Next is Marvel Two-in-One #21.

This has nothing to do with the story but with corporate politics. Marvel was publishing the adventures of Doc Savage at that time. The Human Torch and the Thing are sent back in time and they team up with Doc and his men. This team-up brought Doc Savage into current Marvel continuity. The story isn't important as in present continuity at Marvel it never happened. Why? Because since Marvel can't publish him anymore as they lost the rights. Now they belong to DC. So the only way to read it is by finding a back issue somewhere as Marvel can't in publish reprints of old stories.

DC Comics Presents #90 is also a team-up that never happened. I think we talked about it before but in case we didn't here is why. In this issue Superman teams with Firestorm and Captain Atom. Again the story isn't the important part. What is important is Captain Atom's costume. As you can see it is one of his old Charlton ones. It is actually my favorite of his costumes. Not long after this team up the dear Captain got his own series at DC. In the series they showed this and his other Charlton costume and said these were releasaed to the public and told that he was wearing them when he was operating in secret while learning how to use his powers. Now he was in a new costume and operating in public. So this team-up never happened. Still there is a good story waiting to be told. If it really did happen Ronnie Raymond and Superman can prove it since they were there.
