FANTASTIC FOUR ON RADIO

I know that most comic book fans by now have heard that Marvel did a Fantastic Four radio show in the 70's. Till now I have never heard it. But I recently found the first 10 episodes on this site. Many of them were taken from the actually comic books. The Human Torch is voiced by a very young Bill Murray. Here is the first episode.

In Memory of Gene Colan: Gene Colan's Archie

On June 23rd Gene Colan passed away after a continuing battle with various health issues. I never met him but I always loved his art. Espically on Marvel's Daredevil. For most of Daredevil's career he was usually considered a grade B character. But he had some of the most stellar artist on his adventures. One of the best was Gene "the Dean" Colan. In Daredevil he even made the Stiltman look menacing. No one used the effects of shadows better then Gene. He was also given some unusual characters to work on that you would never think would work wiht his art. Howard the Duck was one of those but it worked. Another, one of his lesser known, was on Archie. But Mr. Colan's art wasn't focused on the humorous Archie. His art in Return to Riverdale, was focused on the grown up soap opera version. This was the comic book version of the TV movie that they had hopes would become a series. That didn't happen but it was an interesting experiiment and Mr. Colan's art worked for the more grown up version. Maybe the new look that Archie tried out a few years ago would have been better if he had most of the artwork there.
