I said with the second post of this series that I wanted to showcase the issue with the Challengers in the yellow and red uniforms as that is how I first saw them. I wanted to end it with the previous issue but since this was the one where they got new uniforms I decided to post this one aas well. The only thing I didn't like about the new uniforms was the fur lined collars. What was that about?

Just heard that DC is coming out with this hard cover edition of the Batman team-up issues of the Brave and the Bold. I am very happy to see that a team-up book is getting this kind of attention. Here something you don't see everyday. An old promo for the Adventures of Superman. I recently saw an episode on DVD. It was nice to watch but I had to smile a bit at one scene. Jimmy and a woman were tied up. Superman was standing next to them just when the crooks shot at him. Of course the bullets bounced off. Now as kids my next thought wouldn't have occurred to me but it was "Those bullets could have bounced off him and killed Jimmy adn that lady." Guess the producers didn't think of it either.

This is part 3 of a three part crossover involvoing the Challengers of the Unknown and the Doom Patrol. On a side note I know that Beast Boy (later Changling) is calling Mento on the cover a pot head because of his helmet. However, this was the 60's and that phrase was taking on another meaning. I guess it didn't have that meaning yeat at this point but in later years I bet that wouldn't be on the cover.

We all have our favorite team-ups and chances are most of them have been reprinted what seems like hundreds of times before. But what so you consider the worst team-ups to ever be printed? This was actually my first issue of this series. Had to get some of the others at comic book stores and the others I found scans of on line like you have at this site. To me this issue was great. I wish they could have taken this fake Holmes and Watson and given them their own series. To me this shows that no matter where evil pokes its ugly head somehow in someway justice will rise up to fight it.I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I do and have a Happy New Year!

Cheetah Rest in Peace

I have been a long time fan of the old Tarzan movies. Especially the ones with Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan. One of the favorites of those old movies was his friend Cheetah. Recently it made the news tha Cheetah died in Florida at the age of 80. I'm not an expert on primates but to me that seemed awful old for a chimp to live. It was sad to learn that he died but it seemed strange to me that he lived so long as to be the last member of the original cast to pass away. I wasn't the only one to think this as this yahoo article http://news.yahoo.com/evidence-casts-doubt-claimed-cheetah-death-224332923.html points out other things that this may not be the original Cheetah. Other chimps played the part as well. The owner at his death inherited him from his Dad who got him from Mr. Weissmuller. I didn't know that Weissmuller ever owned the Chimp. Also, the owner says he is 51 and has known Cheetah 51 years but states Cheetah came there when he was 5 years old. Doesn't that mean he has known him for 46 years and not 51 years? This could be the real Cheetah or it could be that his Dad just told him that to impress his young son. If not those then it is just a stunt to boost business. No matter what Cheetah has passed away at some point. In his honor is the below cover gallery.

I have so many good Christmas stories to use this year I almost decided to keep it going. But instead I will put them out next year. For now to fill in the space between now and January 1st I am posting a few issues of the mid 70's series The Joker. It was a well produced series but didn't last long. This is one of those rare series that had a villain as its star. It was a fun read for me.

After all Christmas has no meaning without Easter and Easter has no meaning without Christmas. These holidays are connected to each other for all time.
